The paper examines the international legal aspects of combating corruption. The main international legal instruments in this field are analyzed, including those not ratified or denounced by the Russian Federation. The study identifies common approaches adopted by the international community to counter crimes involving bribery and other forms of unlawful remuneration, as well as the key trends in the development of relevant legislation. The examined international legal acts are compared with domestic regulations in the area of anti-corruption efforts. It is established that, overall, Russian national legislation takes into account the country’s international obligations, although in some cases it practically replicates recommended norms without sufficient adaptation to the national legal system. The paper also proposes certain measures to improve the provisions of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation and the guiding federal laws.
